I'm not sure when they moved to Dubuque, but the Phelps had been in Plano from 1900 to 1910. My grandmother, Eva ran off in Nov. 1915 to Galena & applied for a license, & was married Jan 2, 1916. Her mother may have already been ill & maybe had something to do with that. The Umbreits definitely had a son, Ellis, born June 12, 1918. Emily Umbreit died in 1924. It's so confusing, though. If they're the same person, then Fred might have had 2 wives from 1919 to 1924 if he was not aware she survived. I'm willing to accept she died in 1916, I would like to get more details. The Umbreit mystery will have to be solved anpother day.
