HANS HAUSKEN PASSED AWAY

IS VICTIM OF HEART FAILURE FUNERAL HELD THIS AFTERNOON

People in the community were shocked Monday morning to her that Hans O. Hausken had passed away early that morning, at his place three and a half miles southeast of Roland. Although Mr. Hausken had not been feeling very well for some time, he had been up and around, and had been visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. M. Malohn, near Nevada, the day before. It had been noticed during that day that he was very pale and did not seem to feel as well as usual and at one o'clock that night he became very ill and passed away at five o'clock Monday morning, the cause of his death being heart failure.

Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon, from Salem church, Rev. J. N. Sandven officiating, many of his friends and relatives being present to pay their last respects to the departed. The pall bearers were old neighbors, being Iver Sampson, Ole Hanson, Odne Howen, Nels T. Wicks, J. J. Hoversten, and T. A. Sorem. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.

Hans Hausken was born in Norway on January 26, 1854, and died August 18, 1924, at the age of 70 years, 6 months, and 22 days. He came to this country in April, 1874, going first to Stevens county Minn., where he remained for four years. He came to this community in 1878 and lived here for 47 years. On December 13, 1874 he was united in marriage to Sarah Gunderson Dalen, to which union nine children were born, one of which died in infancy. Three others, Mrs. martin Selvog, Mrs. Frank Webster and Mrs. Millard Lawrence, have also passed to the Great Beyond. Those living, who with their mother are left to mourn the departed, are Mrs. Knute Stensland, Lamberton, Minn.; Mrs. W. M. Malohn, Mrs. Fred Larson, Mrs. J. P. Larson of near Nevada; and Ole Hausken, living near Garden City. Mr. Hausken was of a large family, there being 13 brothers and sisters in the family, several of whom preceded him in death.
