OBITUARY

Beergette Tone was born in Hallindal, Norway, July 15, 1821. She was married to Engebret Engebretsen in 1847. They emigrated to America in 1867, and came to Story City where they resided five years. Then they moved to a farm four miles northwest of Story City. They lived there until 1897, when they moved back to town and lived there until 1902. Then they quit housekeeping and moved to their daughter, Mrs. Julia Charlson, where Mr. Engebretsen died in 1905. He was then 86 years of age. In 1909 Mrs. Engebretsen moved to another of her daughters Mrs. George Larson, where she stayed until her death March 1, 1915. She was 93 years, 7 months, and 15 days of age.

She had seven children, two of which have preceded her, namely: Ole Engebretsen, and Mrs. Julia Charlson. Those living are: Mrs. Christine Lein, Estherville; Mrs. Pete Rask, Madrid; Knudt Engebretsen, Des Moines; Mrs. Geo. Larson, Story City; and Nels Engebretsen, Harrison, Neb.

The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Immanuel church, Rev. Solum officiating. Thee pall bearers were all but one grandsons of the deceased.

Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were: K. W. Rask of Madrid, Mrs. Nan and Mrs. Lein of Estherville (the latter had been here since Dec. 1 helping to care for her mother), Bessie Lein of Des Moines, Mrs. Ed Olson of Wallingford and Lewis Ingebritsen and son Earl of Des Moines.
