Died, at the home of her parents, in Des Moines, April 1, 1885, Mrs. Eva Welch, nee Reynolds. Deceased was well known in this city, having resided here for a number of years, and was highly esteemed by a host of friends. She was a sister of Mrs. H. J. Stoutenburgh. Funeral services were held at Des Moines on Friday, several of the relatives from this city attending. The Des Moines Capital thus speaks of her: "Mrs. Welch had been for a year or more employed as chief clerk in the office of the New England Mortgage and Investment Company of this city, and had the sincere respect of her employers and assistants. She was a lady of most amiable disposition and winning manners. Her character was above reproach and her integrity was of the highest order. Death never seemed so cruel as when he took away the life of this pure young woman; but she has left us to join the great majority, and the loss is ours, not hers."
