William Bucklew died at his home, one mile North of Dallas, August 19, 1888, aged 51 years, 6 months and 9 days.

He was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, December 10, 1936, and came to this State in 1856 with his father's family, and in 1857, when but a young man, was converted and joined the M. E. church of which he remained a member during his life. In 1861 he married Mary A. McCollough, of this county, and to them were born ten children, six sons and one daughter remaining to mourn with the nother the sudden departure of the husband and father. Previous to his death he had been threatened with symptoms of paralysis, but perhaps had no thought of immediate danger, when on August 15th, while resting after loading a load of corn, he fell asleep. Mr. E. Wilson, at whose house he was, was not able to arouse him. The physician summoned, found his entire left side paralized, but was finally apparently aroused, but for a few moments at a time, thereafter. He was at once removed to his home, when on the Sabbath following, he closed his eyes and his labored breathing ceased. On the day before his death his sister asked him if he knew he must die, and he replied: "Yes, but that is all right."

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. J. Barton, August 20th, and the hands of those with whom he had so lately associated carried him to his last resting place, and they, with the community, tender their sympathy to the bereaved family. His remembrance of the poor in their financial stress and need will not be forgotten, but will remain to him as a memorial.
