October 1, 1957 ~ July 8, 2012 (age 54) 54 Years Old

Larry D. Schut was born October 1, 1957, to Jacob and Bertha De Koning Schut in Newton, Iowa. He grew up in the Prairie City and Monroe areas. Larry received his early education at the Prairie City Christian Grade School. He graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1975. He furthered his education by attending Des Moines Area Community College majoring in mechanics.

On June 29, 1979, Larry was united in marriage with Lenora Van Zante at the Otley Reformed Church. To this union two sons were born: Luke and Joel.

Larry was employed at Vermeer Manufacturing for thirty-five years. As a child he attended the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church. He was a member of the Otley Reformed Church and later the Faith Christian Reformed Church in Pella. He was a Cadet Leader and Youth Leader.

Larry enjoyed go-carting, watching car races, and working with the Van Haaften Race Team. In the spring he could often be found out in field mushroom hunting. He loved to joke around and play practical jokes on people. He also enjoyed taking his dog on walks.

Larry went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 8, 2012, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of fifty-five. Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Lenora; his two sons: Luke Schut and his wife Anneke of Ames and Joel Schut of Pella; his mother Bertha Schut of Pella, his brothers and sisters: Joann Meade of Virginia; Ron (Marcia) Schut of Pella, Marvin (Cinda) Schut of Pella, Lois (Wayne) Steenhoek of Newton; many nieces and nephews; his in-laws: Delwin (Nancy) Van Zante of Otley, Ella (Larry) Kool of Pella, Cynthia (Al) Van Zee of Pella, and Laurel (Patti) Van Zante of Otley.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Jacob Schut; parents-in-law, Hessel and Leota Van Zante; and brother-in-law, Jim Meade.

Larry will be remembered for his good nature and his easygoing attitude. He will be greatly missed by his family, his coworkers at Vermeer's, the race community, and his many friends.
