Father of J. D. Virtue Is Buried at Danbury

Funeral services for John Virtue, 88 years old, father of J. D. Virtue of Mapleton were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in Danbury. Interment was in the Danbury cemetery.

Mr. Virtue died Friday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Richards at Danbury. He had been a resident of Danbury and that community since 1884. He was born in Pennsylvania and served in the Civil war with a Pennsylvania regiment.

He is survived by three children, Mr. Virtue of Mapleton and John R. Virtue and Mrs. Elizabeth Richards of Danbury.

Members of the American Legion post at Danbury had charge of the funeral, Mr. Virtue being the last Civil war veteran in the Danbury community. Services were conducted by Rev. W. J. Witter of Danbury and Rev. C. H. Van Metro of Mapleton.

Relatives and friends from Mapleton attending the funeral were J. D. Virtue and son, Byron, and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hollister, Mrs. Ida Griffin, Mrs. Lucy Porter, Seth Smith, Gus Tronstrom, and several members of the American
Legion Post.
