Mrs. John Virtue Is Claimed By Death; Funeral on Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. John R. Virtue, 47 years old, a sister-in-law of J. D. Virtue of Mapleton who died suddenly last week, were held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church at Danbury. Rev. J. M. Howdeshell, pastor of the Danbury cemetery under the direction of the Matt Funeral Home.

Lena Margerite Hansen was born near Holstein, Ia.., October 2, 1885, and died at the Battle Creek, Ia., hospital December 27. Her early womanhood was spent at Battle Creek where she attended the public school. She later entered training in St. Anthony's school of nursing at Carroll, Ia., and was graduated from that institution. In 1910 she moved with her parents to Truman, Minn. On December 25 of the same year she was married to John R. Virtue of Danbury. After residing four years at Danbury, they moved to Foley, Minn., where the family made their home for eight years on a farm In 1922, they returned to Danbury and have since made their home on a farm south of Danbury.

Mrs. Virtue was a member of the Methodist Church and an enthusiastic member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Of the time of her death, she was associate worthy matron of the organization.

She is survived by her husband and four children, two sons, Leonard and John, Jr., and two daughters, Flavilla and Lorene, her father, Herman Hansen of Truman, Minn., two brothers, Alfred of California and Herman of Missouri, and two sisters, Mrs. N. D. Watson of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and Mrs. B. C. Henton of Truman, Minn.

A quartet composed of Mrs. H. B. Thompson, Miss Martha Schylur, Arthur Tatman and Noel McCleery, sang at the services accompanied by Mrs. A. E. McCall.

Virtue, Paul Hollister, Miss Louise Bray, Mrs. Lucy Porter and Mrs. Earl Porter, all of Mapleton, Mrs. Mamie Hollister of Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Swanger of Cushing, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Warn, Mrs. Witters and Mrs. Christianson, all of Battle Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rather, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hoeck, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Scindt and Mrs. E. Rolph and son, Albert and daughter, Ella all of Holstein, and Melvin Lindsey of Onawa.
