Josephine Volkman

Josephine V. Volkman, 96, formerly of 63 N Franklin St., Delaware died Thursday (April 8, 1993) at Wintersong Village.

She was born April 8, 1897, in Port Deposit, Md., to Joseph Phillips and Phoebe (Devonshire) Phillips. She spent most of her life in Iowa before coming to Delaware in 1978.

She was a retired schoolteacher and a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Danbury, Iowa. In Delaware she was a member of William Street United Methodist Church and the Poetry Club.

Surviving are three sisters, Linnie Schaffner of 141 W Central Ave., Madeline Biddle of Portland, Ore. and Lu Long of Englewood, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, in 1976 a brother and four sisters.

Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at Robinson Funeral Home Delaware. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4:30 pm at William Street UMC, with the Rev. William Hunter officiating.

Burial will be in Danbury.
