DANBURY, Iowa - Eugene A. Volkman, 68, Danbury, died Aug. 6 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 9 in the United Methodist Church at Danbury. The Rev. Walter Enstrom will officitate. Burial in Danbury Cemetery will be under direction of the Walter Funeral Home in Danbury.

Masonic rites will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 in the Walter Funeral Home at Mapleton.

Mr. Volkman was born May 8, 1908, at Tabor. About 50 years ago the family moved to Danbury and farmed. Mr. Volkman was employed 30 years in road maintenance for the Woodbury County Highway Commission until his retirement six years ago.

He married Josephine Phillips Aug. 31, 1940, at Blair, Neb.

Mr. Volkman was an amateur photographer and won 18 first place awards in Omaha World-Herald newspaper photographic contests. He was a member of the Sioux City Camera Club and was secretary of the North Central Camera Council, which includes several north central states.

He also was a member of the United Methodist Church in Danbury; Due Guard Lodge 387, AF&AM, in Danbury and Danbury Chapter Eight, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include the widow and a brother, Donald of Muncie, Ind.
