SIOUX CITY -- Elsie L. Gardner, 89, of Sioux City died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Embassy Care Center in Sergeant Bluff following a brief illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Elsie was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Bruce, S.D., the daughter of Joseph and Elvira (Rosenbaum) Nason.

She married Raymond Gardner on Sept. 2, 1939, in Elk Point, S.D. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2000. She was a supervisor for Dura Pack.

She enjoyed embroidery, puzzles, cards, games, computers and traveling. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Clare M. Smith of Sergeant Bluff, Tina E. Kazebeer and her special friend, Jim Marshall of Sioux City, and Donna (Tom) Lorenzen of Hawarden, Iowa; a sister, Ruby Morgan of Blair, Neb.; eight grandchildren, David (Carrie) Knapp, Michael (Tracy) Knapp, Kimberly Smith, Pamela (Bryan) Watkins, Louisa (Ray) Bates, Tina (Ed) Morris, Kevin (Stacy) Lorenzen and Scott (JoHanna) Lorenzen; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons-in-law, Kasey Kazebeer and Harlan W. Smith; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Heinrich; and 11 brothers and sisters.
