Clarence Herbert Bones, 87, of Fort Dodge, formerly of the Siouxland area, died Saturday, November 22, 1997 at the Thompkins Health Center in Fort Dodge.

Services were held Wednesday, November 26, at the Chapel on the Hill of Friendship Haven, with the Rev. Tompsie Smith officiating. Burial was in Garfield-Clinton Cemetery at Rolfe, Iowa. Larson- Weishaar Funeral Home of Manson, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bones was born March 18, 1910 in Redfield, Iowa. He graduated from high school in Allen, Nebraska in 1927 and from Morningside College in 1933, with his Bachelor of Arts degree in education.

He married Mary Elizabeth Squires in 1935. He was a teacher, coach and superintendent in northwest Iowa until 1960. He served in Oto, Alden, Fonda, Truesdale, Moorhead, Anthon, Hudson, Early and Rockwell City, Iowa, Scottsdale, Arizona and Wahoo, Nebraska. In1967, he became the administrator for the educational services in Fremont, Nebraska. Following his retirement, the couple moved to Storm Lake, Iowa. In 1976, they entered the Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Elizabeth Randolph of Seal Beach, California, Vara Groot of Manson, Iowa, Barbara Chapman of Waukee, Iowa, Linda Sherman of Brentwood, Tennessee and Martha Boyes of Clear Lake, Iowa; a son, David of Medford, Oregon, 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Catherine Craig of Fort Dodge and a brother, Calvin of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Warren.
