JEFFERSON, S.D. -- Theresa Jane Heitman, 95, of Jefferson died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel in Sioux City.

Theresa Dougherty was Aug. 13, 1911, in Sioux City, the daughter of Michael D. and Catherine (Marquette) Dougherty. She was raised in Sioux City and attended Sioux City parochial schools. She lived her entire life in the Sioux City and Jefferson area.

She was united in marriage to Stephen H. Heitman on Jan. 16, 1943, in Sioux City. Together, they raised their daughter, Lynn. She was a housewife her entire life. Stephen passed away Nov. 14, 1997.

She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling and going for car rides. She will always be remembered as a great cook. She also loved her cat Snickers. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Lynn (Heitman) and Dave Reiff of Jefferson; four grandchildren and spouses, Corey and Tammy Reiff of McCook Lake, S.D., Tiffany and Joshua Wendling of Jefferson, Shaun Reiff of Joliet, Ill., and Kelly and Dave Avery of North Sioux City; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Reiff and Hannah Reiff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen; her parents; five sisters, Ruth Wikstrom, Nellie Dougherty, Alice Kingsley, Enid Dougherty and Annette Baker; and three brothers, Earl, Bill and George Dougherty.
