IN MEMORIAM—Mrs. Richard Madden died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luke O’Brien in Bluffton township, on Dec. 20, age 36 years and 3 months. She leaves to mourn her loss a loving husband and two small children, father and mother, four brothers and six sisters. Funeral services were conducted from the Bluffton Catholic church on Sunday, Dec. 22, Rev. Fr. Hawe of Decorah, who paid a fitting tribute to her memory. A large concourse of friends and relatives paid a tribute to her memory and followed her remains to their last resting place. Mrs. Madden is dead. It sounds strange to our ears, when we repeat and think. A short time ago she was young, fresh and full of life, but now she is with us no more. True it is. Mrs. Madden is dead. Yes, but we change it and say, She is at rest. We will miss her. How can we forget her. The sun does not forget to keep its appointed time, nor the stars to shine in their brilliancy. No, verily, neither does the image stamped upon our hearts by those we love decay or perish. Nor shall we forget, Mrs. Madden. A noble woman she was, and our delight it is to pay tribute to her memory. Her life was gentle, like the deep waters it was deep. In her heart of hearts she carried those she loved. Her hands were never weary, never failed her stop in ministering unto, caring for, and waiting upon those who in any way depended upon her. Mrs. Madden had lived a consecrated Christian life. She was a faithful member of the Catholic church. Not only was she a faithful member of her church, but just as faithful in believing it was her duty as a Christian to be the will of her divine Master at all times. Our sympathies are extended to the bereaved husband and family and humbly bow to the will of God. May her soul rest in peace.
