Mrs. Mary Cassell died at her home near Bluffton Dec. 26. She has been in very poor health for years, but no one thought the end was so near. She was a kind wife and mother and will be sadly missed in her home.

Mrs. Abigail Tyler came down from Spring Valley on Friday to attend the funeral of her sister Mrs. Cassel.

The funeral of Mrs. Jacob Cassel was held at the Advent church on Saturday. Mrs. Cassel was a daughter of Mr. Kinnison, one of the earliest settlers. We have heard many a story told of Mr. Kinnison’s encounters with the Indians. Mrs. Cassel has been a strong, rugged woman until within a few months, but died of consumption. Mrs. Cassel is the fifth pioneer that has passed from our midst in a few weeks. The others were Mr. Ward, Mr. Roman, Mr. Hanlon, and Mr. Price.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows the name spelled Cassel. It shows she was born Jan. 18, 1844 and is buried in the Burr Oak Cemetery.
