Norwalk – Another old neighbor gone! The long journey of Joseph Patterson, embracing a period of 82 years, is ended. Through the journey from the cradle to the grave was a long one, the end has been reached. Soon after passing the four-score mile-post of life’s road he quietly and peacefully layed aside all that is mortal and put on the immortal that will journey through the ceaseless ages of eternity and never tire again. Mr. Patterson was a good kind neighbor, always standing firm for the right. Last Thursday, the 26th of July, 1894, in the M. E. church, a building erected by his own hands, his neighbors and relatives bade him a last farewell. The wife of his youth who is almost totally blind still lingers on the shore of time. But it will not be long till all the mists that obscure her vision now will be cleared away and they will see each other face to face, renewed in all the vigor of youth, and be more perfect than they were the day they stood before the marriage alter and promised to share life’s joys and sorrows together. The Apostle says, “these vile bodies shall be fashioned like unto His own glorious body.” Job said, “all the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change comes.” How full of comfort the thought.
