LESTER ORVAL GONTERMAN

Lester Orval Gonterman, the son of Charles Franklin and Laura Barker Gonterman was born in Iowa on August 14, 1902. He departed this life on December 16, 1981 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa at the age of 79 years.

Lester was united in marriage to Alta Ancell on July 25, 1920 at Eldon, Iowa. To this union six children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three infant children, one infant brother, and one infant sister.

Lester is survived by his wife Alta of the home, three children, Jack Gonterman of Bonaparte, Donna Brinkman of Mesa, Arizona, and Jerald of the home. Also two grandsons, Phillip Gonterman of Iowa City, and Martin Gonterman of Donnellson; two great grandchildren, Heather Jo Gonterman and Phillip Gonterman, Jr.; four sisters, Esther Murphy of Bonaparte, Stella Schultz of Cedar Rapids, Mabel Husak of Pine Grove, California, and Lorene Thibodeaux of Pioneer, California and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all.

Services were held on Saturday, December 19, 1981, at 1:30 p.m. from the Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour with Rev. Ron Johnson, officiating. The hymn "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" was sung by Merrill Womach. Interment was in the Promise City Cemetery.
