Dale Gordy

Dale E. Gordy, 75, New London and formerly of Yarmouth, died April 5, 1991, at the Burlington Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 10, 1915, at Hopewell, Mo., to Cleve and Dora Bradbury Gordy.

He married Malissa Fenton on Nov. 12, 1938, in Memphis, Mo.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and worked at the Burlington Light Co. and later as a custodian in New London and Mediapolis schools. He was a member of the Barker United Methodist Church in Scotland County, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Linda Blint of rural West Point; two sons Jack Gordy of San Diego, Calif., and Dick Gordy of Danville; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson, three sisters, Violet Willcoxson, Mary Doll and Dorothy Dixon, all of Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Forrest, Lee and Eugene.

The funeral was April 9, 1991 at the Elliott Chapel with the Rev. Craig Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Burge Cemetery with military rites by V.F.W. Post 7641 of New London.

A memorial for the New London Rescue Squad has been established.
