Herbert W. Neu

Herbert W. Neu, 55, of Farmington died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, July 22 in Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, after an illness of four months. He was born january 16, 1918, at Farmington, the son of George W. and Lydia Schaad Neu. He never married. He spent his entire life in Farmington and was owner-operator of Neu's Service Station. He was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church and Richardson-Anthony Post 231 American Legion. He was an Army veteran of W.W. 2.

He is survived by one brother, Robert G. Neu of Middleton, Wis., and four sisters, Mrs. Ford (Viola) Proenneke, Mrs. Merlyn (Mildred) Jeffers, both of Farmington; Mrs. Leo (Verna) Henderson, Temple Hill, Maryland; and Mrs. Leslie (Freda) Hoaglin, Hillsboro; two aunts, six nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother and one infant sister.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Harden officiating. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery, Farmington.
