Gladys May Hamlin

Gladys May Hamlin, 77, of Bonaparte died at 3:10 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Davis County Memorial Hospital in Bloomfield after an illness of several months. She was born March 30, 1896 at Waterloo, Ia., the daughter of John and Sarah Pitts Berry. On September 25, 1921 she married Robert Hamlin at Villisca, Iowa. She had lived in Bonaparte since 1937. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1971.

Mrs. Hamlin had been bookkeeper for the Hamlin Bros. Coal Co. and was a member of the Bonaparte United Methodist Church, the Tri T. Society, P.E.O., American Legion Auxiliary and had been County Chairman of the Red Cross for many years.

She is survived by her husband Robert and one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Dodder of Council Bluffs, and four granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, and one daughter in infancy, one brother and two sisters.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 23, in the Bonaparte United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery. Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home at Farmington had charge of the service.
