Clarence E. Coffin

Clarence E. Coffin, 79, of Farmington died unexpectedly at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29.

He was born Jan. 2, 1893 in Clark County, Mo., the son of Charles C. and Cynthia Sullivan Coffin. On Feb. 12, 1914 he married Edna M. Collins in Clark County, Mo. She survives. He was a lifelong resident of the Farmington community and was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Charles W. Coffin of Farming: two daughters, Charlotte A. Smith and Iris I. Kerr, both of Farmington; two sisters, Viola M. Gares of Farmington and Lora Pechstein of Ft. Madison; two grandchildren, Richard Smith of Iowa City and Becky Kerr of Farmington. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Effie Margaret, in infancy; and one sister, Beulah Yates.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 in the United Methodist Church in Farmington, the Rev. Edward Maus officiated. Burial was in the Christy cemetery. Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home had charge of the service.
