Callie F. Speer

Callie F. Speer, daughter of David and Mary Gooden, was born in Scotland County, Mo. Oct. 1, 1891 and departed this life Nov. 15, 1972, after a short illness and surgery at the Scotland County hospital, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 15 days.

On Feb. 8, 1911, she was united in marrige to Clifford Speer. To this union six children were born, Wayne of Milton, Muriel (Mrs. Laverne Harris) of Memphis, Mo., four children who preceded her in death, Victor Richard at six months and three in infancy.

She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, Clifford Speer, two children; a son-in-law and daughter-in-law; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Cora Francis of Clarion; one brother, Earl Gooden of Milton; a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Early in life she confessed her faith in Christ and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Downing, Mo.

Funeral services were held at Gerth & Baskett Chapel in Memphis, Mo. Friday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 with the Rev. Herb Alexander officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
