Frank G. Farr

Frank G. Farr, son of George and Jennie Thompson Farr, was born October 28, 1888, near Grinnell and departed this life Saturday November 25, 1972, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield at the age of 84.

His early life was spent in the Grinnell community and Pennsylvania, and he attended Grinnell College.

On August 17, 1923, he was married to Edythe Moody. They resided for many years in Fairfield. Mr. Farr was a road and farm machinery salesman. They also lived for several years in the Richland and Douds communities before moving back to Fairfield in 1956. After his retirement Mr. Farr worked part time at the Fairfield Public Library for several years.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Parsons of Springfield, Illinois, a son the Reverend Robert G. Farr of Carson, five grandchildren, Wayne, David and James Parsons and Audrey and Heather Farr, eight great-grandchildren, a sister, Miss Lois Farr of Pontiac, Illinois, other relatives and many friends. A brother, Vern, preceded him in death.

Mr. Farr was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fairfield and was a fifty-year member of both Clinton Lodge No. 15, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and Fairfield Chapter No. 34, Order of the Eastern Star, and he was a charter member of Bethlehem Shrine No. 44, White Shrine of Jerusalem, all of Fairfield.

He will be remembered as a faithful husband and father, a good neighbor, and a true friend - a man of principle who endeavored in his daily life to practice the high ideals which he held dear.

Funeral services were held Monday November 27, 1972 at 2 P.M. at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Earl D. Kelly, pastor officiating. Miss Kathleen Pedrick was the organist. Pall bearers were Wayne, David, James, Jeffrey, Robert, and Landon Parsons. Interment was in Union Cemetery east of Fairfield. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds.
