Verna Gatton

Mrs. Verna Grace Gatton, 68, Bonaparte, died at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17 at St. Joseph hospital. She had been ill for one year, seriously ill one month.

Born Sept. 24, 1904, near Alexandria, she was the daughter of William B. and Emma Arnold. She was a resident of rural Bonaparte for the last 12 years, moving here from Clark County, Mo.

She married William Albert Gatton May 7, 1922 at Wayland.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, Albert A., Hubert L., Keokuk, and William B., Farmington; two daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Nola) Curfman, Monrovia, Calif., and Mrs. George (Lenna) Griggs; five sisters, Mrs. Virgie Campbell of Wayland, Mrs. Glen Ridgley, Mrs. Albert Kirchner, Mrs. Wilma Wall, both of Kahoka and Mrs. Norbet Bennet, Alexandria; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20 at the DeJong Funeral Home. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
