John Penny (Rushford)

I am looking for information on my grandfather John (Joseph?) Penny, born in Iowa about 1898. I believe his parents names were John and Catherine Penny and they probably came from Ireland. Apparently Catherine died and her husband put some of the children in an orphanage. The child John Penny was later adopted or fostered by the Rushford family and went to South Dakota with them. Young John worked for he Rushfords and then, at about age 14, we believe he left the Rushfords and went to work for John Hanson (my great grandfather). Young John Penny married John Hanson's daughter, Eva, and signed the name "John Joseph Rushford" on the wedding certificate, and used the surname "Rushford" from then on. John and Eva had several children, one of whom was my mother, Catherine. I'd like to know where John Penny was born, who his parents were, and where they came from, and whatever information might be available. Sincerely, Evelyn Alexander.
