Reverend William Kolenbrander, 72, died Thursday evening at the Orange City Hospital, following a seven month illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 14 at the First Reformed Church, Orange City. Reverends Cecil Martens, Frank Snuttjer, Everett Van Engelenhoven and Henry Kolenbrander officiated. Burial was in the West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home.

Mr. Kolenbrander was born February 21, 1911 at Pella, the son of Gerrit and Cornelia Kolenbrander. He married Helene Van Gorp September 2, 1937, at Prairie City. He retired in October, 1975 in Orange City.

His life was spent in church-related activities. He was a pastor at Ada Reformed Church, Ada, Michigan; Greenleafton Reformed Church, Preston, Minnesota; Free Grace Reformed Church, Middleburg; Faith Reformed Church, Lanark, Illinois; First Reformed Church, Slayton, Minnesota; and First Reformed Church, Orange City. He also served as chaplain at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife, Helene; three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Marilyn) Vander Kooi of Orange City, Mrs. Ben (Elaine) Koerselman of Hull, Mrs. Paul (Carole) Aykens of Orange City; a son, Ronald William of Manhattan, Kansas; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Elias and Reverend Henry, both of Pella and James of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. William (Angeline) Van Rheenen and Mrs. Valentine (Berdena) Van Rheenen, both of Pella and Mrs. Albert (Janet) De Kock of Oslaloosa; a half-sister, Mrs. William (Rachel) Van Dusseldorp of Pella.

He was preceded in death by infant twin daughters; an infant granddaughter; a brother, Dick; a sister, Laurene; and a half-sister, Johanna.
