Religious affiliation: Baptized, made his first communion and was confirmed in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling, IA

Military service: Entered the U. S. Army during World War II in 1945 and was honorably discharged 18 months later

Marriage: Mildred Dresen; 1951; St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Earling, IA

Employment: From 1942 through 1964, he worked as a mechanic for Joe Wilwerding, owner of Wilwerding Auto Craft. He purchased the business and re-named it Finken Auto Machine Shop; he owned it for 30 years.

Hobbies/Interests: Previously, Ivo was Earling’s Fire Chief and Legion Commander; was president of the Business Mens Club and in 1978 was voted “Business Man of the Year;” enjoyed the casinos; horse and dog races; collecting coins; wood whittling; cracking and cleaning walnuts; peeling potatoes and washing dishes; doing magic tricks. Loved the summer garden season and all the fresh vegetables, and could fix anything and everything.
