Employment: After graduating from grade school, Violet worked for families cleaning their homes, caring for the sick, elderly, and newborn babies as a live-in nanny. After her marriage, she remained at home to raise their sons, care for their homestead and worked with Wayne on the farm.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed watching local racing and NASCAR, antique auctions and attending their grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's school and sports activities. She loved cooking and baking. Although she was never formally taught to play the piano, Violet could play by ear. She also was an avid cake decorator and proud of her Danish heritage.
