LAST RITES FRIDAY
FOR ROSS SPADING

Funeral services for Ross Spading of Malcom, 56, were conducted at Grace Methodist church Friday, July 3, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. C.W. Woollard officiating. Organist was Leo Shuler.

Interment was in Rector cemetery southwest of Chelsea. Serving as pallbearers were Maynard McLain, John Krumm, Alfred Robey, Charles DePauw, Virgil Lidtka and Nigel Walters. Flower attendants were Dr. and Mrs. J.M. Barclay and Mr. and Mrs. B. Paul Thomson.

Ross Frederick Spading, son of Albert and Mary Jepp Spading, was born March 19, 1908, in Warren township and died July 1, 1964, at Community hospital in Grinnell after an illness of three weeks.

At the age of five, his parents moved to a farm north of Brooklyn where he grew to manhood.

On Nov. 20, 1934, he was married to Florence Ryan of the Chelsea community at Aledo, Ill. For three years the couple farmed in Madison township. In 1937 they purchased a farm in Sheridan township where they moved the following spring and where they had lived ever since.

Mr. and Mrs. Spading united with the Grace Methodist church in Brooklyn March 22, 1940, where they remained active members. Mr. Spading was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Grinnell and Sheridan Grange.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; one brother, Marvin of Belle Plaine; five sisters, Edith Spading, Mrs. Myrtle Ormiston, Mrs. Robert (Marie) Roudabush and Mrs. Paul (Gladys) Paynter all of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Clark (Kathryn) Metz of Momence, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harvey.

In addition to his sister and husband of Momence, Ill., relatives and friends attending the funeral from a distance were from Gothenburg, Neb., Ames, Nevada, Marshalltown, Iowa City, Prairie City, Haverhill, Belle Plaine and Tama.
