KATHRYN "KATIE" SPADING METZ

Kathryn Spading Metz, 81, of Momence died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997 at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Momence, with a reception following in the church's memorial building. The Rev. James Ruberg will officiate.

At her request, her body has been donated to the Anatomical Gift Association where it will be used for training medical personnel and advancing medical science.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the Edward Chipman Public Library, Momence.

Mrs. Metz served on the Board of the Edward Chipman Public Library for 20 years in Momence.

She was a 1940 graduate of the University of Iowa.

Mrs. Metz taught school in Mitchell, S.D., and Galesburg. She was a civilian supervisor of the cafeterias Service Clubs at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and Ft. Des Moines, Iowa.

She was born May 29, 1915 in Brooklyn, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Mary Jepp Spading. Surviving are her husband, Dr. Clark A. Metz, whom she married May 18, 1946 in Brooklyn, Iowa; three sons and daughters-in-law, David R. and Deborah of Staunton, Va., James R. and Ruth of Beaver Dam, Wis., and John A. and Shirley of Cuba City, Wis.; one daughter, Susan Williams of Momence; four sisters, Edith Spading, Myrtle Ormiston, Gladys Paynter and Marie Roudabush, all of Brooklyn, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren.

Three brothers and a grandson are deceased.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Momence.
