Funeral services for Millard Johnson, 91, Moscow, were held at Spangler Chapel Jan. 2 with the Rev. Leland Eyres officiating. Burial was in the Moscow cemetery. Masonic rites were held Jan. 1.

Mr. Johnson died at Muscatine General hospital Dec. 30. He had been living at the Bethesda Care center for more than 2 years.

The son of John and Helena Patterson Johnson, he was born in Stone City Feb. 27, 1892. He was married to Effie Birkhofer Dec. 11, 1913. She died in 1958. He was married to Marvel Satterwaite in 1962. She also preceded him in death.

Mr. Johnson had farmed in the Moscow and Wilton areas, retiring in 1945. He served on the Muscatine county board of supervisors and the Moscow township school board. At one time he was assessor for Moscow township in Muscatine county.

He was a 50 year member of the Masonic lodge No. 167 AF&AM, Wilton, having served as past master. He was treasurer at the time of his death. He was a member of the Bloomington Grange and the Spangler Chapel.

He is survived by a son, Marvin, Moscow; a daughter, Mrs. Tom (Mildred) Grings, Moscow; 4 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Vivian) Griffith, Hiawatha. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
