MAPLETON, Iowa Mrs. Jesse A. (Eleanor) Uhl, 86, of Mapleton, died Friday at Maple Heights Nursing Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton with the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Uhl, the former Eleanor H. Schleis, was born Jan. 1, 1900, in St. Joseph, Mo., and moved to Mapleton when she was a child. She married Jesse A. Uhl on Jan. 12, 1920, in Mapleton, and the couple farmed near Mapleton. They remained in their farm home five miles northwest of Mapleton after retirement. Mr. Uhl died April 18, 1985.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Guild.

Survivors include five sons, Howard of Mapleton, Lawrence of Willingboro, N.J., Richard of Council Bluffs, Paul of Sioux City, Gary of Des Moines; six daughters, Carol Swenk of Sparta, N.C., Darlene Hammett and Mrs. Gail (Kay) Cadwell, both of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Arlis (Lucille) Larson of Smithland, Mrs. Paul (Joy) Doland of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Vincent (Pidge) Ahart of Coon Rapids, Minn.; 49 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
