Mrs. William Mathis Dead At Age Of 36
Mrs. William Mathis, 36, died at her home, 1298 Fourteenth street north, Thursday at 3:30 a.m. after a ten months illness.
As Myrtle Laura Sanders, daughter of John and Laura Sanders, she was born at New Albany, Ind., July 22, 1900. She was married June 6, 1918, to the Rev. William Mathis, who is pastor of the Neighborhood Chapel of this city. They began housekeeping in Chicago, later living at St. Louis, Moline and Cedar Rapids. They have been residents of Marion since 1933.
Mrs. Mathis was a member of the Church of God, and was active in church work until her health failed. She is survived by her husband; her mother, Mrs. Laura Kendall of Anderson, Ind.; one brother, Roy Sanders of Stockton, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Columbia of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Arthur Lamoureaux of Anderson, Ind.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Yocom chapel. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
