John Kain, one of the well known and best liked men of Plum Creek township, died the first part of last week in Mercy hospital, Chicago, where he had gone a short time previous for the removal of gall stones. For several days after the operation Mr. Kain seemed to improve steadily. A turn for the worse was taken a week after the operation, and he passed away a week ago last Tuesday morning. Mr. Kain was a brother of Mrs. Bestenlehner of Whittemore, and for a time the Kain family lived in this city, while the children attended St. Michael's school. He was an up-to-date progressive farmer, and one of those jovial men it is a pleasure to know. His wife, his sister, Miss Mary, and a brother, Martin Kain, were with him at the time of his death.

He was born upon the farm on which he lived in Plum Creek township, fifty-two years ago last June 29. He is survived by his wife and ten children, and two sisters and four brothers, Two brothers, Jas. and Chris have died in the past two years.

Funeral services were held from St. Michael's Catholic church in Algona last Wednesday morning and burial made in the Algona cemetery.
