Mrs. Lizzie Short, who is well known in Newton, died June 23 at the home of her son, Vernal Short, at 935 W. 109th street, Los Angeles, Califor., after an illness of almost 3 months. She was taken ill on May 1 with rheumatic fever, which effected her heart to such an extent that she never recovered.
Mrs. Short was a resident of Newton for many years, leaving this city in 1913 for Portland, Ore. Since leaving Newton she had made her home with two sons, Ernest at Portland and Vernal at Los Angeles.
Burial was in the Masonic section of the Forest Lawn cemetery at Los Angeles.
