Walter S. Williams was born in Dollish, Wales, in 1840. When 19 years old he came to America. He returned to Wales and was married to Miss Annie Williams and came back to America in 1861, and for about 17 years lived at Pittston, Pa.
In 1878 he moved to Pidgeon Run, Ohio, and later to Delroy, Ohio. In 1885 he came to Iowa. His wife died at Beacon, Iowa, July 17, 1894.
Three children, a daughter and two sons died in infancy, David D., another son died in 1908.
He leaves six sons, Benjamin, of Beacon, Iowa, William R., John C., Thomas, George and Walter, all of Colfax, and fifteen grandchildren.
For a number of years he had been afflicted with asthma which with heart trouble which finally caused his death.
He passed away at the home of William R., Monday morning, Oct. 21, 1917, at 9:00 o’clock, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 25 days.
He has three brothers to mourn his loss.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Morgan Jones. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery.
