Anna Potter

Anna M. Potter, 71, of Maquoketa died Saturday, Dec. 24, 1991 at Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27 at Carson & Son Funeral Home in Maquoketa with the Rev. Chad Odell of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec 26, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Potter was born Aug. 19, 1923 in Andrew to James and Harriet Whitmore Risinger. She married Louis Potter. He preceded her in death.

She was manager of the Hurst Hotel in Maquoketa for more than 20 years. She was an avid bingo player.

Survivors include four sons, James Potter, Michael Potter and William Potter, all of Maquoketa, and Richard Potter of Tennessee; three daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Cliff) Merrick of Maquoketa, Carol, (Mrs. Mike) Hogland of Lakewood, Colo., and Nancy Redman of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brother, Donald Risinger of Rock Island, Ill., Fay Risinger of Albuquerque, N.M., and Marvin Ringer of Macon, Ga.; and five sisters, Mrs. Olive Smith and Mrs. Elsie Gregerson, both of Preston, Mrs. June Carroll of Madrid, Mrs. Mary McGalmery of Kansas City, Mo. and Mrs. Janice Hatter of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one daughter, one granddaughter, eight brothers and two sisters.

A memorial fund has been established.
