Hans Olsen Korslund [11 November 1822 -- 15 November 1910]
Olea Olsdatter Korslund [6 November 1822 -- 16 August 1914]

50th Golden Wedding Celebration:

In accordance with the announcement of our last week's locals promising to give a small history of the golden wedding celebrated by Hans O. Korslund and wife on Sunday the 12th of April, we have the following to offer. The family moved from Eickrold, [sic. Eidsvoll] Norway in the year 1869 and settled in Iowa County, Wisconsin. From there they removed to Humboldt county, Iowa, in the spring of 1874 and settled on the home place which they have occupied ever since, hence having lived in this county twenty-two years. The family consists of eight children, forty grandchildren and one great grandchild, all being present at the wedding, together with a number of friends making a total of nearly one hundred people present. Rev. O. Halgrims officiated and delivered a very touching and appropriate sermon for the occasion. The above mentioned eight children are all married. The oldest Ellen Olara was married to Nels Langseth twenty five years ago and is the mother of five living children. She lives with her husband on a farm near Worthington, Minn. Anna Martina was married to Ollie Ellingson twenty-two years ago and is the mother of nine living children. She also lives with her husband on a farm near Worthington, Minn. Elina was married to Hans J. Johnson twenty three years ago, has five living children. Her husband is a carpenter by profession and lives in Eagle Grove. O. H. Korslund of Thor married Annie Farosen fifteen years ago. They have six living children. Mr. Korslund is the present stock buyer here and is so well known here that it is unnecessary to mention him any further. Chris Korslund married Julia Pinney daughter of the late D. G. Finney of Humboldt ten years ago. They have one child. Mr. Korslund is one of the leading bankers of northwestern Iowa located at Livermore. Nickolid is a locomotive engineer located at St. Paul, Minn. Was married seventeen years ago to Anna Lund of Badger and is the father of four living children. Andrew Korslund follows the occupation of a farmer, and is located on the old homestead three and a half miles northeast of Thor, was married eight years ago to Martina Langseth and is the father of three living children. Hanna Korslund the youngest married S. J. Lund, the late hardware merchant of Thor, thirteen years ago and is the mother of seven children, Mr. Lund is now in the real estate business besides improving a small farm. The honored old people are seventy three years of age, are both enjoying the best of good health, and still very industrious, looking after the comforts of their children and grandchildren, making them frequent visits and never forgetting to bring something for the little ones. It is a pleasure to see how cheerful and happy they always look. The presents given to the old couple were a purse of gold coins to each, also each a pair of gold spectacles. Among the guests were Oliver Alex and Amelia Nelson, C. J. Lund, E. H Ometh and many others. All having an elegant time in spite of the wet weather.
