Ina Mae Peterson, 92, of Wayland, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at the Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa. Visitation was held from 2-8 PM Thursday, July 18, at the Wayland Mennonite Church where the family received friends from 6-8 PM Thursday evening. Funeral services were held Friday, July 19 a 2:00 PM at the Wayland Mennonite Church with Gerry Klopfenstein officiating. Music was provided by Kathy Yoder, pianist, and Donna Roth, vocalist. Burial was in the North Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ron Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Cindy Mueller, Shari Janecek, Stacy Peterson, Kirsten Peterson, and Karrie Peterson. Honorary casket bearers were Sarah Peterson, Johathan Peterson, Emily Peterson, Betsy Clements, Alex Mueller, Tucker Janecek and Joshua Peterson. Memorials have been established to the Parkview Home and to the Wayland Mennonite Church in the memory of Ina Mae Peterson of Wayland. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant is in charge of the arrangements.

Ina was born on November 10, 1909, to William and Anna Eicher Boshart. She spent her early years in the Noble-Wayland area, graduating from Wayland High School in 1928. After high school graduation, Ina was employed at the Wayland News Office and the Ervin Reschly Grocery Store. On February 10, 1935 she married Kenneth Alexander Peterson. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1989.

After getting married, the couple farmed in the Mt. Union and Olds area where they raised their family. For a number of years, Ina was employed at the Parkview Home in Wayland. The couple retired to Wayland in 1978 and Ina remained active in the Wayland Mennonite Church. She served in various church offices and was especially interested and supportive of Women in Mission.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by one daughter, Anna Marie Peterson of Kansas City, Missouri; one son, Carroll Peterson and his wife, Cindy of Pella, Iowa; two daughters-in-law, Janice Peterson of St. Charles, Missouri and Janet Peterson of Wayland, Iowa, and one sister, Wilma Kauffman of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, John Peterson and Duane Peterson; one great-grandson, Andrew Peterson; two brothers, Vernon Boshart and Vere Boshart, and two half-sisters, Irene Schrock and Harriet Saltzman.
