Dr. Sarah E. Miller, 88, of 12183 Sunset Drive, died at 8:20 PM November 6, 2001 at Pekin Hospital in Pekin, Illinois. Sarah was born November 8, 1912 in Dhamatari, Madya, Pradesh, India to Dr. Christian David and Mina B. Brubaker Esch. She married Orie A. Miller of Wayland, Iowa Easter morning, April 9, 1939, in Goshen, Indiana. Surviving, with Orie are two sons, Theodore (and Carol) of Hanna City and Stephen (and Ann) of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter Kathleen (and David) Johnson of Pekin; three sisters, six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Miller, one brother, and one sister.

She received a B.A. degree in 1933 and a Th.B. degree in 1934 from Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana. She received her M.D. from Women's Medical College in Philadelphia in 1938.

In 1940 Sarah came to Peoria with her husband and began her medical career as a General Practitioner in 1942. After years of specializing in Obstetrics, she worked as an Emergency Room Physician at Procter Hospital from 1965 to 1977. From 1977 until retiring in 1987, Sarah worked with Dr. Robert Stine in his Peoria allergy clinic.

She was a member of the American Medical Association and the Peoria County Medical Society. She was also a member of the Spring Lake Missionary Church near Manita, Illinois. A private graveside service was held at 3 PM Thursday, November. 8, at the Smithville Cemetery near Hanna City, IL. A memorial service was held at Spring Lake Missionary Church near Manito, Illinois November 11.
