Wayland News:

Willis Henry Troyer, 95, of Wayland, died Monday, August 5, 2002 at the Parkview Home in Wayland following declining health. Memorial Services have been set for 11:00 AM Thursday, August 8, 2002, at Faith Baptist Church in Washington with Rev. Don Ruffenach and Rev. Robert Wolf officiating. Burial will be prior to the Memorial Service at 10:00 A.M. at North Hill Cemetery north of Wayland. Visitation was held at 9:00 Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with the family present from 2-4 in the afternoon and 6-8 in the evening. Memorials may be directed to Wayland Fire Department., Wayland Rescue Squad, or the Parkview Home in Wayland.

Willis was born December 7, 1906 in Kalona, Iowa, the son of Abraham and Anna (Mueller) Troyer. He attended Brush #8 School and on August 7, 1930 was united in marriage to Susan Miller at her parents' home. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Washington and past member and chief of the Wayland Fire Department. For over 50 years he owned and operated Troyer Repair Shop. He was well known for his woodworking and clocks he made.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, of Wayland; six daughters, Delores Rupp and husband Howard of Archbold, Ohio; Wilma Gingerich and husband Don of Wellman; Dorothy Short and husband Rex of Archbold, Ohio, Betty Walcizek and husband Harvey of Long Grove, Illinois; Shirley Lindell and husband Steve of Cedar Rapids, and Sandy Eiffert and husband Jamie of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Dorothy Martin of Wellman; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and five great-step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Chris, Charles, Ezra, Raymon, and Orval, two sisters, Barb Yoder and Alma Troyer.

Pallbearers are the six son-in-laws, Howard Rupp, Don Gingerich, Rex Short, Harvey Waliczek, Steve Lindell, and Jamie Eiffert.
