Arlene Klopfenstein, 85, of Wayland passed away Saturday, February 9, 20092 at the Parkview Home in Wayland, According to her wishes, Mrs. Klopfenstein will be cremated. A memorial services will be hosted by the family, Thursday evening, at 7:00 P.M. at the Wayland Mennonite Church with Pastor Steve Good officiating. The family will greet friends following the memorial service at the church. A private family burial of the ashes will take place in the Eicher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be given to the Parkview Home and to the Washington County Hospice in memory of Arlene Klopfenstein of Wayland. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant has assisted the family with arrangements.

Arlene Frances Klopfenstein was born February 19, 1916 in Crawfordsville, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth W. and Luvina Eicher Goff. She attended the Stringtown School and graduated from Wayland High School in 1933. On January 5, 1937 she married Dennis C. Klopfenstein in Wayland. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1982.

Mrs. Klopfenstein was a full time mother and helped on the family farm. For many years she sold Avon and Tupperware. She lived in the Trenton area until 1955 when she moved to Wayland. She was an active member of the Wayland Mennonite Church.

Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Klopfenstein and his wife, Mary, of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Michael Klopfenstein and his wife Kathleen of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Gerry Klopfenstein and his wife Lois of Wayland, Iowa and Gene Klopfenstein and his wife Monica of Wayland, Iowa; one daughter, Ann Krabill and her husband Larry of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Klopfenstein and Alice Goff, both of Washington, Iowa, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, and three sisters.
