Upon the blood stained battlefield
On the beaches of Normandy
They gave their life that day
With quiet fortitude they faced the fray.

Oh God let them sleep in peace we pray,
Their dreams were scattered to the winds,
Their work on earth not done
But they died alone in their youthful pride
Somebody’s brother – somebody’s son.
