Services Held for H.B. Cooper

Salem - The Memorial services for Henry Burton Cooper where held at the Stevens Funeral Home, Thursday, with the Rev. J. McCracken officiating. Miss Emma Jane Fess accompanied by Mrs. Leah Beery sang two selections and burial was in the East cemetery, the body bearers being Allo Fess, Darrell Foss, Ray Davidson, Herman Moeller, Al Fraise, Dale Smith.

Henry Burton Cooper, son of John and Sarah [Beard] Cooper was born on a farm north of Salem on Oct. 19, 1869, and departed this life on February 22, 1949, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 3 days.

On December 28, 1898, he was married to Cora Crane, and to this union four children were born. Most of his life was spent in and around Salem, having lived in Salem for the past thirty years. The last three years of his life he was closely confined to his home in ill health.

At his passing he leaves to mourn the following: his wife, Cora, one son, Dee Cooper, of Salem; three daughters, Mrs. Dottie Wagner of Salem, Mrs. Clifford Overton of Donnellson, Iowa,and Mrs. Stanley Overton of West Point, Iowa. Six grandchildren, one haveing preceded him in death, and two great grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Charles, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and two sisters, Hannah Hodson of Mt. Pleasant and Minnie Evans of Los Angeles, Calif, besides many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Miss Lillian Endicott, Mr. and Mrs. Will Crane, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kiger, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Charles Smith, Mrs. Ralph Kessel, Fairfield; Mr. and Mrs. Emeory Crane, Mr .and Mrs. Everette Crane, Oral Smith, Lockridge and Merle Bunker, Radcliff, Iowa.
