Miles D. Shelman, 97, of rural Winfield, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.Born Sept. 20, 1907, in Hillsboro, he was the son of George and Ethel Davidson Shelman. He married Rosamond Edwards. She died Aug. 16, 1968.

Mr. Shelman was a farmer.

Survivors include one son, Laris Shelman of Winfield; seven grandchildren; and 19 great–grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter, one grandson, four brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield.The funeral for Mr. Shelman will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Olds United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Chris Cowles officiating. Burial will follow in North Wayne Township Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Olds United Church of Christ.
