Obituary

Mathias Bendic Olson, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Amond Olson, was born two miles north of Randall, Jan 24, 1892, and died at the hospital in Iowa City March 4, 1929, being at that time 37 years old.

He was baptized in Elim church by Rev. O. P. Svingen, Feb. 28, 1892, and confirmed in the same church by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud, Oct. 14, 1906. His classmates were Pearl Johnson, who later became his wife, Annie Oson, Mathilda Okland, Annie Christenson, Julia Roguchaug, Annie Hia, Inger Millang, Malvin Hanson, Walter Henderson, Martin Hovland, Marvin Boyd, Martin Teigland, Martin Grimsley, Arthur Carpenter, Henry Christenson, Peder Johnson, Cora Jerdemann, Selma Olson and Hannah Dragseid.

Jan. 8, 1913, he was united in marriage to Miss Pearl Johnson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Johnson, who live 2 miles west of Randall, the wedding being performed by Rev. Paulsrud. To this union six children were born. One, Glenn Sanford, died in infancy. The five children who survive their father range in age from 2 to 15 years. Their names are: Jeanette, Alfred, Marjorie, Lucille and Kenneth.

When Mr. Olson was first married he worked a farm for a year near Ceylon, Minn. Then he worked his father-in-law's farm for 2 years, after which he bought a farm 4 1/2 miles southeast of Randall, where he lived happily until he was taken sick about a year ago. Everything was done to save his life, but all in vain. He sought help at the Nevada sanitarium, the Des Moines Lutheran hospital and lastly at Iowa City.

Besides his wife and the five children he also leaves to mourn his early departure his mother, Mrs. Amond Olson, Randall, and three brother, Peder, of Winnebago, Minn., Albert, of Frost, Minn. and Leo of Randall.

He was buried from his mother's home and the church at Randall March 9, 1929. Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiated, and a quartet rendered two songs. The church was filled with sympathetic friends and relatives.

He was laid to rest at the Mt. Olive cemetery, Randall.

The pallbearers were: Martin Egemo, Arnold Nygaard, Gaylord Carpenter, Willie Wicks, Andrew Hove and Ingvald Ask. --P
