Johanna "Jo" Hewitt, 90, Webster City, died Thursday, May 23, 2002 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service.

Johanna Cornelia Vander Hoek, daughter of William and Cornelia Groenendyk Vander Hoek, was born May 29, 1911 at Stryen, Holland. She moved with her parents to the United States and received her education in the Pella School system. She started employment with the Pella Telephone Company. On Oct. 6, 1928 she married Wray Charles Hewitt at Lancaster, Mo. The couple resided at Oskaloosa, Albia and moved to Webster City in 1934. Mr. Hewitt died Feb. 9, 1960. She worked at LeGore Drug and Olson Pharmacy.

Mrs. Hewitt is survived by son, Don Hewitt of Webster City; daughter, Nancy Murken of Fort Dodge; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Hewitt in 1940; daughter Eugenia Hewitt in 1988; her parents, brothers, Arie and Ben Vander Hoek; sister, Marie DeBruin.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be directed to Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City.
