William "Bill" Johnson, 92, Stratford, died Sunday, May 26, 2002 at the Stratford Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Laird officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery, west of Williams. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and until the services on Wednesday.

William John Johnson, son of Dirk and Grace Vanhorn Johnson, was born Oct. 11, 1909 on a farm southeast of Williams. He attended a rural school in that area. He started working for the Illinois Central Railroad. On January 18, 1934 he married Gladys Greenfield at Williams. The couple farmed in the Williams, Blairsburg and Homer areas. He retired from farming and for 25 years worked for Bishop Implement in Webster City. He moved to the Stratford Care Center in September of 1996. Mrs. Johnson died August 17, 1998.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Helen Johnson, Gerald and Kay Johnson, all of Perryville, Ark., Alvin and Marian Johnson of Stratford; daughters and sons-in-law, Clara and David Watt of Dows; Karen and Frank Kockorsky of Fort Dodge, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry, Fred, Carl, Dickie and Eddie Johnson; sisters, Grace Duden, Carrie Bell, Della Greenfield, Christina Buntenbach, Anna Krum and Jennie Rasmussen.

He was a member of New Testament Church of Christ.
