Hugh Thompson, 83, longtime Webster City resident, died Sunday afternoon at the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient the past week.

He had been in ill health for the past three years.

Funeral services will be at 1 30 pm. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev Paul D Williamson officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Hugh Thompson, son of H.I. and Ida Reed Thompson, was born Jan 12, 1895, at Webster City where he was reared and educated. He was united in a marriage of Hazel G Allen, and the couple farmed in this area, later retiring and moving into Webster City For the past two years they had resided at the Southfield Care Center.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter Mrs. Marcelyn Senger of Flossmoor. Ill one granddaughter. Mrs. Terrence (Marion) McElroy, of Chicago, two great-grandsons, Brian and Christopher McElroy; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. He was a life member of the Elks lodge in Webster City.
