William Johnson, the son of James and Jane Johnson, was born in Piatt County, Illinois, on Sept, 29,1871 and passed from this life Friday, Sept.16,1944, at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, at the age of 73 years. He was married on January 1, 1896, to Eudora Clifton , and to this union thirteen children were born two of whom preceded him in death, Ola Jane and Lee Roy James. In 1901 the family moved to Iowa and have made their home for 43 years North of Stuart (with the exception of four years). Six months ago the family moved to Stuart and made their home here.

Mr. Johnson leaves to mourn his passing his wife and eleven children, Mrs. Hazel Arrasmith Des Moines; Carl Johnson, Des Moines; Earl Johnson, Indianola; Mrs. Gladys Connant, Des Moines; Mrs. Grace King, Minneapolis, Minn., Donald Johnson, Des Monies; Clarence Johnson, Redfield; Mrs. Martha Countryman,Stuart; Mrs. Dorothea Stapes, Adel; Willis Johnson, Dexter; and Evelyn of Stuart. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Sarah Howard, and a brother, Otis Hott.

He leaves 32 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and the neighbors and friends in his home community.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Methodist Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Russell Hanson. Casketbearers were Carl, Earl, Donald, Willis and Clarence Johnson and Carroll Thompson.

Interment was in South Oak Grove cemetery, Stuart.
